Pramaadham. You excel yourself in these short tamizh couplets/poems/writings - whatever they are called. A joy is the language howsoever badly one might write in it; but when it is so beautifully written, the delight and satisfaction one feels is unparallelled!
Keep it up, Anu.
And thanks.

Splendid! It took me a few searches on google to get the Tamil-English script transliteration and help from a dear friend to read the post and it was well worth the effort.. You write wonderfully in Tamil. Truly well construed and rendered

Manoj, haha..:)

Netcraze, obviously, he would like it, for he is helplessly in love..:)

Parvati, thank you..glad you enjoyed reading this..:)

Eroteme, thanks, for taking the effort to understand the script..I should have posted the same in English as well (like I do for other posts..)...truly glad you liked it..:)

Can i oblige to provide a translation?

He asked..

You stole my heart with the music of your anklets..
But you, tied me with your eyes, captured me inside your heart..
You are the thief. Then why am i the prisoner?

Except for vagaries with Unicode, there's little one can say. Maybe it's just me, though, that finds all Tamil poetry to be instilled firmly with a sense of déja vu.

Amrita, Manoj has given you the translation..and yes, belated wishes for a happy new year! :)..

SK Jena, welcome here..:)thanks for ur wishes; btw, this post has nothing to do with tamil new year..:)

Manoj, thanks so much! :)

Sumant, well, I guess you have very little to say with all my posts..Sadly, my blog doesn't seem to satisfy your interests much for quite sometime..!

Anon, quite true and agreed..but we aren't talking logic here; it's just a helpless lover expressing how he fell in love..:)

gives a blank look ! Tamil is going to take me ages more to understand! But I was fine after Manoj's translation.. :o)
So beautiful... am going wistful!!

Are all lovers as helpless as this?

Anupama Viswanathan said...

MG, :), you seem to be commenting on my tamil posts of late..Improving, eh?? :p..just kidding..thanks ya! :)

Ramya, :D..I have promised you tuitions, haven't I? :)

Krish, honestly I don't know whether all lovers feel helpless like this..but yeah, I know some of them, who do! :)

Ramya, (and all others who are referring to the english translation), you can't get the entire package in english. Even, this poem is a zillion times better in tamil than in english. So go learn the language soon. Seems like anu is going to come up with more and more of this. You dont wanna miss 'em. :)

Anu, ur are actually becoming a pro in poetry.

manoj-thanks to u too for that translation, nice done.

Anupama Viswanathan said...

Manoj, Amrita, thanks for your comments..

Luna, thank you and welcome here..:)

Yaathrigan, thanks for your -ve vimarsanam..I would first like you to understand that this isn't poetry..It sounds kinda literary that is all..and I had intentionally made it prose - "ஆனால் நீயோ" exists because of that..you can think of it more like a dialogue than a kavidhai..I hope that clarifies things..

and sorry,

I didn't understand what you are trying to tell me here..(kavidhai illai)..This was never meant to be an exceptional piece of poetry..it's just a record of passing thought!
