Irony

One more day, one more time – your words fly like fiery sparks of fire and pierce me like the sharpest icicles. Oh, why wouldn’t you understand? Why do you hurt me, to love me again? Why do you love me, to hurt me again? Glassy spangles down your cheek – what are they? Tears of repentance? Whatever for?

You wrap me up in this conundrum called your love, cloaked in burning jealousy and possessiveness, and as I choke, you say I am a princess, your princess.

Yes. Yes, I am. I am your princess, the princess with a crown, the crown of thorns, the thorns of irony, for I am after all a ruffled feather, against a backdrop of deceiving joy.

Hmmmmm. Not another one. You women never understand men.

And tell me. Do you 'really' feel it just like a crown of thorns? No mother can bear it if her child loves another woman the same as her. Is that a crown of thorns on the childs head? How come men always get this bad image? We just love like a children do their mother.

ஒரு குழந்த கிட்ட, அவங்க அம்மாவ பாத்து "இது உங்கம்மா இல்ல, எங்கம்மா" அப்டின்னு சொன்னா அந்த குழந்த அழும். அது தப்பா?

I don't want to comment on the inner meaning of the post, but I love your idea of juxtaposing opposites

hi anu, seems ur specialising in love and poetry and inviting controversial comments. i will not say more, don worry. but keep it up.

I sense little distortion because tears, jealousy, possessiveness and such are usually characteristised by 'princess' rather than 'prince'. Probably its not a thorny crown, but a protective head gear!
Nicely put and reminded me of 'I had a dove...' by keats. It all depends on which side of the cage one is!

Manoj, come on man, why react so much? This has no, i repeat, absolutely no relation to what I hold for men..You should first understand that I am not generalising anything against men here..The problem is the "I" gets very confusing here..Just step behind a little, and watch this as a piece of written work..all ambiguities will hopefully disappear..

My dear Parvati, :)..that was such an involved comment..Thank you very much! At the outset, let me make something very clear - this is of course a piece of pure, pure fiction and has absolutely no truth (personally) in it!! I hope that relieves you..:)..If I probably tell you what prompted me to write this : Let's think of a Sharukh like character in Darr..a psycho-lover, if I can put it that way, in which case I doubt if a person is fortunate to have a lover of that sort!

As much as duality explores a side of love and loving (which I strongly believe in), this post is also meant to see what could possibly be another side of love! I hope that explains things a little better..:)

Ramya, thanks..glad you found it interesting..

Amrita, hahaha!!! the truth is it was a very innocent attempt at writing some fiction and it has raked up so much of a controversy!! Well, guess it happens! :)

Rajesh, first thanks, glad you liked this..:) and well, i dont think jealousy, possessiveness and tears are girly things..even guys are capable of that!! :)

very true !! It is also a fact that men hide their feelings.

- No. Guys capable of much more of them than girls. It is just that we believe those things are weaknesses and suppress them most of the times even before they sprout. Rakesh is very right. They are hidden. And Women know that they are hidden. And Men know that, women know that they are hidden.
